Health and Welfare Policy
We want our students to learn in a happy and safe environment, so it is essential that staff and students follow these Health and Safety rules.

Hazards, Accidents and First Aid
At school, the stairs and floors may get slippery if it is raining outside so take care.
If you have any kind of accident or need First Aid while in the Ingla building, please report this immediately to Ingla Reception or find a member of the Ingla Team.
Fire Evacuation
We carry out regular fire unannounced drills to ensure that everyone knows what to do in case of fire or other emergency. Make sure that you take time to read the “Fire Evacuation Route and Procedure” poster which is displayed in all classrooms.
If you discover a fire, do not attempt to tackle it. Inform your teacher or Ingla Reception immediately.
Whenever you hear the fire bell, please follow these instructions:
- quietly assemble with your class and leave the classroom
- leave immediately – do not take your bag/coat
- follow your teacher or the signs to the fire exit
- leave the premises and assemble at the ‘Ingla Fire Assembly Point’. This is in front of Costa Coffee, on the corner of High Street and Wellington Terrace.
- re-enter the building only when your teacher allows this
Anybody who does not comply with these instructions and potentially endangers others will be subject to disciplinary action at Ingla.
Student Welfare
Our Welfare Lead will be able to provide guidance regarding various aspects of living in the UK – things like basic UK laws, opening a bank account, accommodation, applying for a National Insurance number, registering with a doctor, practicing a religion, and travelling around London.
Pastoral Care
Life can be overwhelming and sometimes you might want to discuss more personal or sensitive issues confidentially with a trusted person. We are here to help – just speak to the member of staff that you feel most comfortable with or make an appointment with our Welfare Lead. Please be aware that, sometimes, we may have to pass information on to others, especially if someone’s safety is at risk.
Prevent Agenda
We want to take extra care of vulnerable students who may be exposed to radicalisation and extremist views outside Ingla.
In line with this, we ask our students to be vigilant and report any concerns they might have with regards to their classmates or anyone else.
Let us know if you think a friend’s behaviour is changing or if you notice anything different.
