General English Courses

General English Classes are perfect to improve your English all round.

In each lesson, the four primary skills of Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking are developed and practiced.


Each lesson is 90 minutes long.

Classes are available at our London school, morning and afternoon, Monday – Friday, and in the evening from Monday – Thursday.


To see the best improvement in your English, we recommend that you study consistently for a course of regular classes for 12 weeks.

General English Course

This General English course is for people who are just starting to learn English. You already know a few words, basic greetings, and a little bit of grammar, but you want a class to practise speaking and listening every day.

This class will focus on all four skills (Reading, Speaking, Listening, and Writing) and give you a solid foundation to understand English grammar, how to form sentences, and there will be lots of pronunciation practice.

By the end of this course, you’ll be able to…

· Form simple positive and negative sentences about the past and present

· Ask questions and understand what question words mean (Who, What, Why…)

· Talk about your daily routines, and communication your basic needs

· Talk about things happening now using the present continuous

· Tell the time and say the date

· Use prepositions of time and place (in, on, at…)

· Identify things using “There is…/There are…”

· Understand when to use the articles “a/an/the”

· Give personal information either by speaking or completing a form

· Use the most common, high-frequency words in English


· How to use the verb “to be”

· How to ask questions with “Wh-“ words

· Word order in questions

· How to talk about possession

· How to use adverbs of frequency like “often, never, and sometimes”

· Using “There is/There are” to identify things

· Present Simple and Continuous

Elementary (A1)

This General English course is for people who have already studied English a little and want to communicate better.

This class has lots of speaking and pronunciation practice to help you sound better when you speak English and be better understood. The Elementary course will also add to your knowledge of grammar, improve your vocabulary, and give you lots of real, authentic listening practice in the classroom.

This is a great course if you want to push your level of English past the basics.

By the end of this course, you’ll be able to…

· Talk about your likes and dislikes

· Understand basic conversations about familiar topics

· Talk about shopping and money

· Tell people about your life experiences

· Use the right present/past tense with more confidence

· Compare people and things using adjectives

· Make and talk about plans for the future

· Tell people about your abilities

· Express obligations and talk about rules

· Understand when to use “be” or “do

· Feel more confident when you use prepositions (in, on, at…)

· Use the right stress when you pronounce words

In the Elementary course, you will study the following topics.


·Revising present and past simple and continuous

· How to use different types of pronouns (subject, object, possessive)

· How to compare things with comparative and superlative adjectives

· Using modals (can/could) to talk about abilities

· Using modals (have to/don’t have to) to talk about obligations

· How to talk about future plans and make predictions with “going to”

· How to talk about life experiences using present perfect

Pre-Intermediate (A2)

This General English course is for people who want to increase their confidence and improve their level of English. The Pre-Intermediate course will challenge you to start using more than just basic English with fun and achievable tasks.

Pre-Intermediate is the level in which students start to become more fluent when they speak and more comfortable using English for more than just their everyday needs. This class will focus on all four skills, but especially on your listening, speaking and grammar.

By the end of this course, you’ll be able to…

·Make predictions about what might and will happen in the future

· Compare things using adjectives

· Give advice

· Talk about clothes and appearance

· Talk about your plans and dreams

· Make questions without auxiliary verbs

· Understand when to use “make” or “do”

· Use prepositions (in, on at) better

· Talk about how long you’ve done something

In the Pre-Intermediate course, you will study the following topics.


· When to use present perfect or past simple

· How to use present perfect with a time phrase (for.., since…)

· How to use “will” and “might” for predictions

· Using present continuous for future arrangements

· Using “something”, “anything”, and “nothing”

· Introduction to phrasal verbs

· Using “used to” to talk about past habits

Intermediate (B1)

This General English course is for people who want to increase their level of communication, sound more natural in English, and improve how fluent they are. The Intermediate course lays the foundations for higher level English.

By the end of this course, you’ll be able to…

· Describe past habits and actions that are becoming routine

· Understand when to use –ing and infinitive verbs more effectively

· Pronounce English vowels better

· Speak with a more convincing and natural rhythm

· Form different types of complex questions

· Report what other people have said in more natural ways

· Talk about imaginary and hypothetical situations

· Write an opinion essay using good linking and organising language

· Talk about continuous and finished actions in the future

· Give more detailed information about people, places and things


In the Intermediate course, you will study the following topics.

· The position of adverbs in a sentence

Upper Intermediate (B2)

This is a General English class for people who want to raise the level of their English to a professional or academic standard. This is the level where your English starts to become more complex and closer to native speakers.

In the Upper-Intermediate class you will learn new ways of expressing yourself with intensive speaking, listening, reading and writing practice. You will also learn lots of new grammar to elevate your English and talk about things that you may now find difficult.

By the end of this course, you’ll be able to…

· Tell a story using past simple, continuous, and perfect

· Talk about past habits and things in your routine now

· Describe feelings

· Give advice and talk about rules and obligations

· Talk about the future more naturally using different grammar

Advanced (C1)

This Advanced course is for students who feel comfortable with complex grammar and have a good vocabulary, but they want to sound more natural and fluent. This level focuses on the fine details that separate a very good English speaker from somebody who can communicate like a native speaker.

Our Advanced course is all about communication and listening practice, but it also offers lots of grammar input and writing practice.

By the end of this course, you’ll be able to…
